Elina Yasumoto

I accept briefs in all areas of law. I have appeared led and unled in the Supreme Court of New South Wales, Court of Appeal, Family Court of Australia, Federal Circuit Court as well as other courts and the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal, mainly providing advocacy and advice in the practice areas of Commercial law, Corporate law, Family Law, Equity and Crime. I also appear in ASIC examinations and for the Commissioner of Taxation.

Prior to being called to the Bar, I worked as a solicitor at Shields Lawyers. I also worked at the NSW Environmental Defenders Office where I was part of the team that advised the Papua New Guinea government and drafted laws for the sustainable management and regulations for beche de mer fishing industry. I also advised the NSW Government as part of the legal team at the National Children’s and Youth Law Centre. 

I graduated with a Juris Doctor from the University of New South Wales and a Masters degree in Musicology from the University of Melbourne. During my tertiary studies I was awarded the Australian Postgraduate Award in research excellence from the Australian Federal Government, Dean’s Award for Academic Excellence and University of Melbourne School of Graduate Studies Academic Activity Grants.
